Income tax Refund

On fixed deposit bank had deducted TDS for the year 2006-07, for a person who has not got PAN during that period. Now duing oct 2007 he got PAN number. Can he claim the refund of TDS amount of the year 2006-07 now?

To get refund only Bank Tds certificates is requiered,You have to established that assessee did not have taxable Income or not liable to obtain PAN nos as requiered criteria not applicable in his case.

Dear Yogeesha ! He can file the return of income for the assessment year 2006-07 and claim for the refund.

The basic rule is this TDS is to be claimed in the year in which the respective income is taxable in the hands of the deductee . You can not prepone or postpone claiming of TDS . File a return of respective year and claim TDS and claim refund if any .

DEAR, YOU FILE THE RETURN FOR THE YEAR ENDED ON 31.03.2006. IF INCOME BELOW THE TAXABLE LIMIT, YOU CLAIM THE REFUND OF TDS AND GET THE SAME FOR ASSESSEE

yes you can get the refund by filing the return of income

Ref:IT PAN No.ADUPG5606P.

Thanks,I have received the TDS refund ( Advice no.SB11040780 ) cheque bearing no.038611 drawn on SBI Mumbai-23 for Rs.26,820/= dated.12.11.2008 for the Assessment year 2007-08 on 17^th Nov’08.But at the same time I have not received the TDS refund for the assessment year 2006-07 still now,the date of income tax return was

filed on 11^th January’2007 and form no.2D receipt no.610620 at Income tax office ward I (6) TBM,Chennai-600 045.

I am requesting you to send me the TDS refund amount of Rs.15,695/= for the assessment year 2006-07 at the earliest and oblige.
