Income Tax on Medical Expenses :Under Section 80D

Hello Gurus

Need you advice on following case:

In FY19-20, a person was under medical insurance of 2 Lacs sum-assured (Premium was 37K for that policy). This policy was on 80:20 copay, means person has to pay 20% of bill (along with other non reimbursable expenses).

In FY19-20, total hospitalization expenses were 3.5 Lacs. Out of 3.5 Lacs, 2 Lacs were paid by Insurer and remaining 1.5 lacs was paid by kin of that person.

Now, while filing the ITR, what will be the best way to show these premium & medical expenses, in case ITR is filed by person's Son?

Thanks in Advance

Looking for some positive feedback.

80D is allowed for premium on mediclaim insurance . It will be fully allowed.
According to me, First understand amount which paid by you (1.5 Lacs) is toward expenditure in terms of personal....shall not allowed to claim any deduction...

now coming to Premium (20) u can claim under 80D sub to sum assured criteria...

let's under stand,

Had it been u himself took a Mediclaim and incurred a cost first then company had reimbursed to you.... like that it's just a reimbursement of amount have no any profiteering element in it so

neither any Taxability arise nor deduction of exp.
If You claim any insurance as deduction , you are not allowed to claim deduction u/s 80DD
80DD is for disability flat deduction of 75k or 125k will be allowed does not matter expense incurred or not.

80DDB is allowed for specified disease after considering the amount of reimbursement of medical expenses from Insurance company.

You can claim mediclaim premium upto 25k if not a senior citizen otherwise 50k premium can be claimed

Thank you so much everyone for your quick response!!!
