This discussion addresses a user's query about filing a revised Income Tax Return (ITR) for AY 2021-22 after receiving a refund. The user wants to declare additional income (bank interest) which increases their tax liability. Experts clarify that a revised return can be filed under section 139(5) even after receiving an intimation under section 143(1), provided it's within the stipulated time limits. The process involves filing the revised return, paying the additional tax due, and then responding to any demand generated on the IT portal by submitting proof of payment.
You need not respond immediately to the outstanding demand. Wait for 1 month. Generally, The portal will nullify itself. If it doesn't, then yes respond as disagree and provide them reason as challan paid and has CIN. And submit the details.
