Income tax

hi, i need an information on income from outiside india.  After staying in Japan for approx 4 years i came back in India in Oct.10 and just now after 6months in May.11 i got my Pension amount from Japan.  so my query is that whether the pension amount is taxable in India or not. Do i need to pay tax on this money which i received as pension which was earlier deducted from my Japan Salary?

Please help.

Any income received in india directly from its source is taxable so any past income is not taxable in india as it is already taxed but if u get pension from ur employer directly then u need to pay tax in case of double taxation u can get benifit but u shud ask expert for detail.

as first residential status is detemined as

u r not fulfilling any basic condition u/s 6 so u r non resident .

in india for a residential person , pension is taxable subject to conditions.

as in japan how u taxed for dat.  also matter.

No, The Pension is not taxable in india, as it is just a transfer of money from japan to india...

otherwise, It will amont to double taxation

i donot agree with dheeraj as any income received in india is taxable both in case or resident and non resident. U can only get double taxation benifit if there is any
