Quick Summary
There's been some confusion regarding IE Code renewal. While previously considered lifetime, a recent DGFT notification (58/28/02/2021) mandates an annual confirmation for all existing IE Code holders between April and June. Failure to update or confirm details can lead to deactivation. It's crucial to respond to any queries from DGFT within the specified timeframe.
No,IEC code is effective for the lifetime of an entity and requires no renewal. After it is obtained, it could be used by an entity against all export and import transactions...
Yes it's mandatory. As per Notification 58/dated 28/2/2021 New circular for applying, updating IEC (Now e-IEC). Every year from April to June even if all details of IEC remain same all existing holders have to confirmed compulsory. IEC may be de-activated if not updated/ confirmed. Whatever queries raised by DGFT will be flagged in IEC and reply has to be given within specified time. Alert all clients to do so and keep checks frequently on it.
