I HAVE A QUERY REGARDING IMPORT

I HAVE A CLIENT WHO IS IMPORTING BY POST.

BUT CUSTOM OFFICER IN POST OFFICE DOESN'T CHARGE CUSTOMS DUTIES AND IGST

I SAID TO HIM THAT HE SHOULD SAY THEM TO CHARGE CUSTOMS AND IGST BUT CUSTOM DEPARTMENT IS SAYING THAT WE WILL CHARGE IT BUT NO GUARANTEE THAT WE WILL FILE ANY RETURN AND CREDIT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO YOU

MY QUESTION IS HOW TO FILE RETURN IN THIS CASE.

Form GSTR 2 provides option to enter Customs related data manually, if not mentioned and avail ITC, if available. Hence it is advisable to pay the amount to the Customs at Post Office with proper documentation and avail credit while filing GSTR 2. Mechanism of GST officer to verify the goods received without payment of IGST is still not known hence advisable to complete the procedure of payment of duty at the time of import.
