A captain of Indian army was killed during a war. His wife received Rs 50000 as ex gratia payment in march 2010 besides family pension of Rs 90000. 

In this case, Which receipt is taxable?

Exempted AS per section 10(19), ,family pension recd by Widow or nominated heirs of deceased member of armed force including para-military forces only condition is death has occured in the course of his operational duties (should be certified HOD where deceased member last worked. For Ex-gratia exempted bu virtue of circular 776 dated 08.06.99
