According to me, you should make an attempt at giving the may  2014 attempt….

Since, in may 2015, the companies act 2013 may become applicable.

Suggest you to plan properly and study for the may 14 exam only….that is what is advisable….

Just plan properly and you should be through…as it is, you have 4 complete months in hand before going for the may exam…

Diksha, first of all i want to say what has happened is now past. I am also in same boat but with a different condition. Major changes DTC (may get applicable) for tax and New Company law applicable for May 2015 and few minor changes can be there with other subjects. Instead of May 2015 try Nov. 2014 with one group(you can also give May 2014 but i think time is needed since accounts, tax and cost takes time, so u can go with second group for May 2014 to gain confidence) and yes Info. Tech new syllabus applicable from May 2014 onwards. 

Now coming to B Com, if u think u can go for May 2014 (can be June also this time only. Wait for Institute notification because of election) then go for it. I would not use word 'average student' because every one is equal in terms of hardwork but differs in intelligence, but the key to intelligence is hardwork so prepare for both [BCom and CA(go for second group)].

I am telling you for May 2014 because you never know what is next in CA course and in its attempts easy paper or tough paper. zayda se zayda fail he toh karenge but in next one year time anything can happen/change. Else set target for both groups in Nov 2014 (Still i will say to give any one of the group. For Nov. 2014 Group I since in May 2015 tax will change but second group will not).

If you think you are getting confused GO FOR GROUP I for NOV.14 and start preparing B.com and CA first group from now.

Because same problem (stated above) will be there when you will be in third year of B.Com but if first group is clear in Nov 2014 you can manage to pass May 2015 second group with B.Com III year if u are confortable with theory subjects i.e audit and IT.

Course is lenghty go step by step, group by group beause you have to digest the course and recall (which can be through proper revision)  and produce the course studied pin pointetedly before the examiner with intelligent writting skills(theory paper).

Never skip an attempt in CA till there is a reasonable cause.

I am also trying to clear CA IPCC and same is applicable to me also.

I think in this way and i may be wrong or it may differ from person to person

According to me, if you can able to write and clear your IPCC examinatin at the earliest will be appreciated. At the time of coaching,they can provide you a direction, rest, you have to do a lot of preparation after coaching. ( Post coaching learning). You should give more imporantce to IPCC since most of the papers are common for B com and IPCC. Any thing  you wish to do, Do it now
