When the property is registered jointly in name of 2 individuals (Mother & Son) & if son resides there with his family,but mother leaves in diff city. In this case can son pay Rent to his mother.

We can show the Rent for Mother Portion of the House property.

since he is co-owner, he can not pay rent to himself!!

Conult a proffesional, but as per my opinion As being a co-owner u cant claim HRA

It's not possible as son is also the owner of that property.

If that property was not registered in his name, then in that case he could pay the rent to his mother and claim the deduction for HRA u/s 10 (13A).

No becouse when computed his income this shows sop in sop co-owner cannot be paid rent
