Hi,

For HRA to be exempted, you just need to show the receipt of payment of rent paid by you for your accomodation, be it in cash or cheque.

You provide the receipts to your employer as documents against which he will compute your tax and deduct TDS if applicable.

thnks a lot for quick reply mr. Prateek......  but   as i asked that Our compay's CA  demand a actual agreement for accomodation...  only for crosscheck that  my  receipt of payment is right or wrong..  .   he also want to know every month bank statement whether the payment deposited in owner's account or not..   but I think this is duty of income tax officer for verification.....     this is ridiculous........ PLEASE GUIDE ME ON THIS ISSUE....

See,

Your CA is safeguarding you. I know its not his liability to nag you about receipts and all. But what if you are not actually having any receipts and just giving abnormal figures for the sake of reducing your tax liability. At the time of assessment, its you who would be facing problems.

The I.T.O. has every power to call for such records as and when necessary.

You just tell your CA that you are having proper receipts of the same and also show your Form 16. Make sure that he verifies all the documents.

With Warm Regards
