HRA claim

573 views 1 replies

An Assessee has two residential houses in his name in two cities but he was living in another city for job purpose in a rented house.

He was showing one property as self occupied and the other as Deemed Let out property in his income tax return.

My question is- Is he eligible to claim HRA exemption for the rent paid by him?

If the assessee is having houses in Cities A and/or B and he is in employment in city C then he is eligible to get HRA benefits.

For claiming HRA  the  stipulated conditions he should have taken a house on rent.  and should not be residing in his own house.
