I am working in pune as well as residing in my own house at pune, also i am paying rent for my parents who are residing in bhopal.

Can I claim HRA as well as housing loan, as i am paying both, the rent and the housing loan interest.

Please clear my doubt.

If the service agreement between you and your employer permit these allownaces

Mr. Amit,

You can claim only your own house loan interest as self occufied proparty interest and pricipal as 80C deduction.

You cannot claim rent which you are paying for parents in bhopal.

Regards.

You can claim only your own house loan interest and pricipal as 80C deduction. can't claim HRA

HRA exemption is allowed on the amount paid by the assessee and at the same time that house should be occupied by the assessee......so u cannt get exemption under Section 10(13A)

No you cannot claim HRA because HRA is available to assessee if he had occupied the proprety & paid its rent.

Regarding home loan interest you can claim interest.

Many thanks to all of you.

My doubt is clear now.

Thanks again.

Amit.

Hi all,

Please clear one more doubt that belongs to my brother in law.

He is paying housing loan interest as well as rent in the same city, mumbai. He has bough the flat which is nearly 35 kms from his work location, this forces him to live in rented house near his office.

In this situtaion, is it possible to get the benefits of both HRA and Housing loan interest.

Thank you.

Amit.

Yeah in this case he can take HRA and House Rent claim......as he had occupied a rented house for his work

and can take housing loan benefits as well

you claim Housing loan benifit but it  flat must generate rental income
