Yes you can clear the paper in this way, because CS EXECUTIVE TAX paper includes more than 50% in theory. Try to cover Vat, Service tax, Wealth Tax, and also last few years short type questions, but its hardly suggested dont depend on only theory, try to cover all topics for future.. Because it can save you in clearing your papers but you will be in problem in practecal field.

@ argha

thanks for your reply.

i know the importance of practical problems but the situation insists me.

There are many video lectures are available in youtube. You dont need to go to any class. Try to see them.
It may backfire if you go with this kind of strategy. It is better to go with a balanced approach in Ur preparation rather than studying only some portion. Just imagine for your bad luck if the theory portion happens to be tough and problem portions were relatively easier, whom will you blame in the examination hall, only you and not others. Please make a wise decision, best of luck.

@ satish sir,

thanks for the reply.so can you please tell me about any books avialable in the market which consists of  solved problems only? i don,t need the theroy part

likewise i have guide of manoharan sir but the assessment year is 2012-13.how good it will be if i study problems through that book especially for the salary and house property part?

also, if i buy a book for the practical problems which is not particularly confined to the cs course but a general one  will it be advisable ? is it necessary to buy the particularly confined books for problems or these type of general books will do the job or not?
