how to improve

Hi,

Things that change after we start pursuing CA are;

1. No regular study. Most of us study only during leave, as against regular study during college days.

2. Writing practice is almost stopped. We write continuosly for 3 hours only during exam and mostly with a handwriting which will not impress / understandable by ourself.

3. Just close to exams, we tend to believe so many things and "expect" questions or certain topics, which will not be the case after seeing the question paper.

So how to go about ?

Believe that no body had passed with "luck"or "miracle" & THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR HARD WORK.

following will help

Time table - right from now work on a time table. Be consistent in your studies.

Revision - When ever you start touching a subject, revise in mind all that you have read earlier. You may soon find time to do weekly revisions. You can revise when you travel. You will find many other ways once making this as your habit

Relax - Dont miss your entertainment. Be mindful of the fact that your entertainment is for relaxation and dont allow it to take control over you

Food - eat good food. Lets not forget that a sound mind is in a sound body.

writing practice - i feel atleast 3 mock tests are essential for us to adapt to continuos writing. the timings may be the same as the exam timings. To improve handwriting,

My handwriting was horrible. I purchased a handwriting (double line) note book and made it a habit to write few pages in the morning and in the evening something from old news paper [ reason: if we tend to write from our subject, our mind will try to get into the subject, what we know and what we do not know & if the news paper is current one then the mind may go into the news]. this worked for me.

Theory paper - Time tested suggesstion, let your first answer be for the question which you know well. this will give you confidence and you will answer the rest of the qn paper with ease.

Fix up the timing for each answer and try to have a logical stop. Writing answers to more questions rather than lengthy answers for few questions will get you more marks.

Start your answer for each question in a fresh page, even if you have completed your answer in the first or second line of a page.

Papers which requires working: for accounts, costing etc., always allocate the left hand side paper for workings and right hand side for the main answer. Put reference for the workings, say 1, 2 ..this will help to draw the attention of the examiner to a particular working. Follow this pattern through out. Your examiner will be at ease

donot strike, over write or erasing.
