How to file ITR with salary income earned both in India and Switzerland

ITR 505 views 4 replies

One of my moved to moved Switzerland in August 2018 on an Onsite assignment. He earned Indian salary until July 2018. Form-16 issued by his Indian employer has only details of his Indian salary. Please suggest which ITR should he file now, how would he disclose his foreign income and how would he claim tax exemption or tax deduction in view of the taxes paid in Switzerland on his foreign salary.

File ITR 2 and for taking credit of foreign taxes fill form 67 before filling itr

Hi Deepika... Thanks for your response... However please suggest whether is it not a straight case of foreign Income of an NRI and so 1.exmept and so 2.need not be disclosed in Indian Income tax return?

If the status of assessee is non resident then there is no need to disclose foreign salary but if your status is resident then you need to disclose foreign salary.
First, please check the residential status of the assessee

He is an NRI and so need not disclose his foreign Income... thanks for confirming the same
