How to file IT return for mother who is housewife

Hello,

I am a working professional and mostly invest my salary on my mother's name as FD. For this financial year she has earned about 1 lakh as interest from various FDs in her name and TDS of about Rs.10000 was deducted from bank. While filing the IT return can I claim back the TDS deducted amount as she is not working? Also while filing the return, her income from other sources will be the interest amount of 1 lakh or the FD amount?

Thanks in advance!

She is required to fill and submit form 15H to ensure that bank does not deduct income tax on the FD interest earned.

She can get the refund credited in bank account after filing IT return before due date 31st July. The IT department calculate the tax applicable and adjusts the excess tax paid and credits it back to the bank account mentioned in her IT return form.

Thanks Ajeet. While filing the return, her income from other sources will be the interest amount or the FD amount?

Declare Interest Income...

TDS deducted  comes up in Form 26AS which tied to the PAN number. Details in it should match the Form 16A provided by bank.
