ONE OF MY CLIENT FILE THE ORIGINAL RETURN  AND ALSO FILED CORRECTION RETURN MAKING SOME CHANGES IN THE ORIGINAL RETURN.

NOW HE WANT TO MAKE CORRECTION IN SECTION, AMOUT PAID. ON BEHALF OF HIM, I TRIED TO GET THE CONSOLIDTED TDS FILE BY AVAILABLE DATA.  I COULD NOT GET TDS FILE BECAUSE THE DATA GIVEN IS NOT MATCHED WITH THE NSDL DATA BASE. I HAVE MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BUT THE REQUESTED FILE COULD NOT BE OBTAINED. IF THERE IS ANY POSSIBILTY TO CANCEL THE CORRECTION AS WELL AS REGULAR RETURN AND FILE THE RETURN AGAIN.

IF SO, HOW TO CANCEL THE RETURN  WETHER THE NSDL PRU CAN BE UTILIZED TO CANCEL THE RETURN.

PLS GIVE  ME THE PROCEDURE FOR CANCELLING THE RETURN

I think Tax deductor can't cancel the reurn once its been filed. But they can able to correct the reurn at n nuber of time at any combination by getting the consolidated file from NSDL. for which he has to apply for th login and certain procedures are there to get the same.Pls refer the NSDL site for TAN registration not for tan application. My suggestion is do the revised return with the help of KARVY or Integrated

Same here. I am unable to get the consolidated TDS return from the NSDL website for correcting the TDS return. The latest changes made in NSDL vis-a-vis TDS returns is not user-friendly at all.

TDS return can be cancelled.

Please go through the following which is copied and pasted from the tin-nsdl site for ready reference.

site reference is:Downloads>e-TDS>quarterly Returns> Correction

Y - Type of Correction Statement

If a regular statement is furnished with an incorrect TAN and the same is to be corrected with correct TAN, in that case regular statement with incorrect TAN needs to be cancelled first. A regular statement can be cancelled only if TAN is to be changed.

A ‘Y’ correction statement will always have only two types of records, i.e. File Header (FH) and Batch Header (BH) records. Hence, a Y correction statement will always have only two rows:

File header record (FH)

Batch header record (BH)

Only after furnishing a ‘Y’ type of correction statement, deductor can furnish a new regular statement with correct TAN.

This may be useful

As per your query , you already registered with NSDL to obtain consolidated return but it didn't get becasuse of your return not accepted.

First verify by NSDL site by mentioning provisional receipt no. for relevant quarter that your origioanl and revised returns are accepted or not ( in short status of return filed ). If your return are rejected at all then you certainly can file return again because if your return not accepted at all means you have not filed the return and accordingly you can file return just like fresh. hence there is not question of correction return here to file . Hence, go through above.

how to prepare y statement in tds

hi, If it is filled in paper form (paper return) for F.Y 07-08 or before then conso file is not available on Traces for rectification.

so you can cancel the same by Request letter and copies of return and provisional receipts to ant TIN centre.

its take some time about 2 weeks but after cancellation you can file fresh return .

there is No Penalty / Interest for filling fresh return in Electronic form

Benefit of Digital Signature (DSC) can be availed by you for not having data of concerned period (for which tds return need to be filed). Steps are as below:

1. Register your Digital Signature at TRACES.

2. Submit Conso request for latest quarter period and validate with DSC.

3. Now DSC will be valid for the day or before you log out from TRACES.

4. Submit Conso Request for the desired quarters without filling the challan and deductee detail. Just apply your DSC and request will be filed.

5. Same goes for justification report request.

As you are proceeding in Digital Signature By-Pass Mode you are permissible to apply for Challan Correction, Interest payment and Add Challan to statement.

Not able to correct PAN in the statement already filled please guide.
