Quick Summary
This discussion addresses the sale of jointly owned house property. It clarifies that sale proceeds can be transferred to a single savings account, provided the purchaser agrees, as they are responsible for deducting Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) for both sellers. Opening a separate capital gains account is generally not required unless you plan to claim an exemption under Section 54 of the Income Tax Act by purchasing or constructing a new property.

Yes, provided the purchaser agrees to it; as he has to deduct TDS for both the sellers.

Is it necessary to open seperate capital gains account in scheduled bank

As such not required, unless you wish to get exemption u/s. 54 IT act, by purchase/construction of new house property.
