Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the GSTR 1 filing due dates, particularly for businesses with a turnover exceeding 1.5 Cr. The Finance Ministry announced extensions for GSTR 1 filings for February, March, and April 2020, allowing submissions until 30.06.2020 without late fees for those with turnover under 5 Cr. For businesses with higher turnovers, returns due in March, April, and May 2020 could be filed by the last week of June 2020, attracting a reduced interest rate of 9% instead of 18% after the original due date, with no late fees if filed by 30 June 2020.

The Finance Ministry on Tuesday announced the extension of the deadline for filing returns of goods and services tax (GST) for late filing of GST.

The GSTR 1 for the month of February, March & April 2020 can be filed till 30.06.2020 without any late fees.

The extension is applicable to all assesses whose turnover is less than Rs. 5 crores.

The taxpayers with turnover higher than above can file returns due in March, April and May 2020 by last week of June 2020 but the
same would attract reduced rate of interest @ 9 % per annum from 15 days after due date (current interest rate is 18 % per annum). No late fee and penalty to be charged, if complied before till 30 June 2020

The due date for filing FORM GSTR-1 for the month of March, April and May 2020 has been extended to "30.06.2020" and all the applicable Late Fees ( levied u/s 47 of the CGST Act 2017 ) has been waived off, as per Notification No. 33/2020 - Central Tax, dated 03.04.2020.
