Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies GST applicability on work contracts where services were provided before GST registration, but payment is received afterwards. If service tax was already paid under the previous regime, GST is generally not chargeable. However, if services were rendered before GST registration and the turnover was below the threshold, GST may not apply to those specific past transactions. Future supplies after GST registration will be subject to GST.

If service tax was levied and paid then gst not chargeable otherwise it is chargeable

Turnover is only 20 lakhs, then also service tax ? Registration taken now and work done last year

If services are provided in earlier regime and payment is received in GST regime then you have to consider GST as payment in GST regime

Service was provided five months before under gst regime , but the client was not registered with gst , and now last month gst registration was granted, and now only the previous work payment received,

Turnover is less than 20 lakhs

Gst will be applicable or not ?

Services were rendered before GST registration when the turnover was within the threshold limit, so now no GST in respect of the same. Hereafter (i.e. after GST registration) GST to be levied on all supplies.
