Quick Summary
This discussion addresses a user's doubt regarding GST setoff, specifically how to utilise IGST input tax credit. The portal indicated a payable amount, leading to confusion about the correct setoff procedure. It was clarified that while IGST input can be used against CGST or SGST, the primary rule is to fully utilise the IGST credit. Users can strategically adjust IGST input proportionally between CGST and SGST outputs to minimise payable tax, and the GST portal accepts these adjustments.

Yes... SGST payable Rs 5202 as per portal...
Yes portal is showing correct. SGST payable will be 5202/- & credit carried forward in CGST will be 47002/-
Thank you !! 👍 input igst must be utilised fully from cgst first right?
Yes... You are exactly correct...

Try to adjust manually for the liability to ITC...😇
There is no hard and fast rule to use IGST input to set off CGST output tax. You can utilise in any proportion to any GST but you should utilise IGST credit totally. If you use IGST first with SGST then you no need to pay anything.
I adjusted IGST input proportionally..to CGST and SGST..so tax amount will be nil..i wana know.. whether i can do like that? moreover gst site is accepting it too...
As per recent update, what ever I said is correct. It's upto us to use various permutations to get the best. You can follow the same.
