I have applied for a registration on 24.05.2020, but still that is pending from department's end. Neither they have approved nor raised any query.
Is there any change in time for approval or rejection of registration?

Quick Summary
If your GST registration application, submitted on 24.05.2020, is still pending without any communication from the department, it may be 'deemed approved'. This means that if the proper officer doesn't take action within the stipulated time (often 3 days from submission as per CGST Act rules), your registration is considered granted. You might receive login credentials by contacting customer care or by tweeting your issue to GST tech for a quicker response. It's also advisable to contact your local GST department for clarification.
As you have not received any communication from department within time . So your application will deemed to be approved. You can call to customer care and they will provide you your login credentials. For your information, there is no change in time limit. Best wishes for your new business 🙏.
Dear Mr. David, As fas as my knowledge is concerned, when application is finally submitted, It's deemed to be accepted by the department because incomplete application will not be permitted by the system. All time limits applicable from date of submission . Department has to take action within time limits for accepting, rejecting or issuing SCN, as the case may be . Suggestion of Mr. Surjeet Negi is also much effective now a days . West wishes from my side 🙏.
In term Sub rule 5 of Rule 9 of CGST Act , if the proper officer fails to take any action within 3 Days from date of submission of application , the grant of Registration shall be deemed to have been approved.
But still... in my view you should contact to your jurisdiction (GST department) in this regard.
