Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies how GST is calculated when purchasing new gold by part-exchanging old gold. While some initially thought GST would only apply to the net amount, the consensus is that GST is charged on the full weight of the new gold purchased (8 grams in this case). The reasoning is that GST is levied on the transaction of acquiring new gold, regardless of any exchange of old gold.

GST will be charged on the whole 8 grams
Gst will always be changed . gst is levuable.
Thank you
As per valuation rule GST will levy on 8 gms

GST liability will be on 8 grams

Thank you
This is not as per valuation rule. On old gold gst is already charged. So no point in charging again on 2 grams.
