GST LIABILITY MISTAKENLY PAID THROUGH CASH

Hello,

I had GST Liability of 6 lacs and I was having GST input credit of 6 lacs.

But while filing GSTR 3B, I have mistakenly paid 6 Lacs liability with cash balance and the GST input credit of 6 lacs is being idle in GST input credit ledger.

As it is not possible to revise GSTR 3B and I don't have any further business to utilize that credit.

How can I get back that Input credit of 6 Lacs

Quick Summary
A user mistakenly paid a GST liability of £6 lacs in cash, leaving their £6 lacs input tax credit idle. As GSTR 3B cannot be revised and they have no further business to utilise the credit, they are seeking ways to recover this amount. Unfortunately, there is no direct provision to claim a cash refund for credit balances in the electronic credit ledger; it can only be used to offset future output tax liabilities. Legal recourse is a possibility but is considered doubtful.

You can not claim refund of Credit balance of electronic credit ledger, you can only use it to set off against your output tax liability..

Hi Jalees,

There is no provision to claim such ITC as a cash refund. Only option via litigation route which is again doubtful.
