Is it permissible to take GST CREDIT on coffee powder purchased?

No..... if it is not for re-sale .
I think you can avail credit, we are also taking the credit for same. and it's depend on the business also the use of coffee powder. as we are in the business of Baking industries, wo we can show this as Input material for the Cake and Pastry and for further clarification go to bare law.

No - EXCEPT where an inward supply of goods or services or both of a particular category is used by a registered person for making an outward taxable supply of the same category of goods or services or both or as an element of a taxable composite or mixed supply

all are correct at their point, but the ITC can be availed partly if not consumed fully for personal use.
pls refer the section 17(1)...
gst generally allow credit furtherance of business , exhaustive list under which you cannot claim ITC
If its partly used for Office Purpose : ITC u/s 17(5)
& Partly used for Personal Purpose ITC has to be reverse as per rule 42 CGST Act
There is no ITC on consumables item...it is falls under blocked credits
