I have been offered an assignment by the World bank for doing a job in Maharashtra..the pymt for which will be done by govt of Maharashtra..thus whether I need to pay GST on same?

Normally export of services are zero rated, if receipt is in foreign currency (if RBI permits INR receipts also permitted). Since you are getting payment from state government, please provide more details like nature of job ( as only certain services to state government are exempted) and whether state government is paying on behalf or world Bank?
