Graduates with high marks exempted from CPT, says ICAI president

Commerce and non-commerce graduates with high marks have been exempted from writing Competency Professional Test (CPT), Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) president G. Ramaswamy said on Sunday. Talking to reporters, he said bright students [commerce graduates with 55 per cent and above marks and non-commerce graduates with 60 per cent and above marks] are exempted from appearing for CPT conducted by ICAI and they could take up internship directly from the current year. The Central Council had approved the proposal, which has been sent to the Union Government for approval.

@ Tejaswi

In main site its there in Newspapers column. In The Hindu paper its clearly written, it has been sent to the Central Government for approval. Only ICAI Council has approved as of now. Govt. approval is also needed. So it may takes time. Because earlier stipend increase issue also pending with the Govt. from long time. Hoping atleast this will be cleared soon.

sir still how much time it can  take for govt approval plz reply

As it is the Govt. issue we cannot estimate the time. Because still the stipend issue is pending with the Govt. almost from many months..So better dont loose the june attempt.

There's no point of asking Bangalore branch of ICAI. The one who picks up the call there never gives the right info even if she does rarely!! They act as if they'r doing a favor just by picking up the call and helping a student!! So dont believe them, whatever is published is true and lets just wait for official announcement on ICAI website.
