respected sir i wnated to ask that if we are not sure of auditing standard no and name can we write as according to engagement and quality standards issued by icai in respect to for eg initial engagement if the question is based on this

No...."engagement" and "quality" standard words will be of no use. Suppose, if the question comes on audi evidence, then both of these words will not be suitable for ur answer. It is not necessary that u should remember the numbers of all accounting standards, but u should use the name of auditing standard.
In case, you are not able to retain the lengthy names of SAs, atleast remember the unique key words included in name of each SA. So examiner will think trhat atleast u knw sumthing.
