FUNNY THINGS AT AGM'S

                      BLACK CLOUDS ON GM’S

*   A VAST MAJORITY OF SHREHOLDERS DO NOT ATTEND THE MEETING. USUALLY, IT IS NOT WORTHWHILE TO ATTEND THE MEETING IF IT IS NOT IN THE CITY WHERE MEMBER IS LIVING

*   MOST OF SHAREHOLDERS HAVE SMALL NUMBER OF SHARES AND THUS HARDLY HAVE ANY SAY IN THE MEETING

*   MANY OF SHAREHOLDERS ATTEND THE MEETING ONLY TO GET SNACKS/LUNCH AND FREE GIFTS DISTRIBUTED. THE MEMBERS CREATE NOISY SCENE IF GIFT IS SMALL. THE NUISANCE OF ‘GIFTS’ AT THE MEETIMG HAS INCRESED TO SUCH AN EXTENT THAT THERE IS A PROPPSAL TO LEGALLY BAN SUCH ‘free gifts’ at the general meetings

*   Some members go the extent of collecting proxies from friends& ask for lunch packets and gifts

*   Some people are ‘professional members’. They get few shares of various companies solely with intention to attend the meetings. They can ask embarrassing questions at the meetings. They even blackmail the company and get some money to keep quiet at the meeting.

*   Some threaten to give notice for appointing himself as ‘director’. He has to pay only rs.500, WHILE COMPANY HAS TO SPEND COSIDERABLE AMOUNT. THEY EXTRACT SOME AMOUNT FROM COMPANY FOR NOT GIVING SUCH NOTICES.

*   SOME COMPANIES EVEN HIRE “GOONDAS” TO KEEP TROUBLE MAKING MEMBERS UNDER CONTROL

*   SOME COMPANIES HAVE SHIFTED THEIR REGISTERED OFFICES FROM METROPOLITAN CITIES TO SOME FAR OFF TOWNS OR VILLAGES. SO THAT MEMBERS DONOT FIND IT WORTHWHILE TO GO TO SUCH MEETINGS…

he he nice one...

The funniest Annual General Meeting you’ll
ever attend!

Come laugh it up at CASLIS Ottawa’s AGM at Yuk Yuk’s Komedy Klub, Thursday, May 12th, 2005. The
comedians have been warned that there will be librarians in the house, so be ready for an onslaught of
targeted jokes and laughter. This should be the funniest AGM you’ll ever attend, at least the most
intentionally funny. Hmmmm.
Bring your friends and colleagues along. Whether or not they are librarians, they can laugh in front of your
back, instead of behind it! There are two parts to the evening, the AGM, which is free and includes finger
foods suitable for a straight man, and later the show where you can order more drinks and food in the
theatre (8 pm sitting, 8:30 pm show starts).

Date: Thursday, May 12

Time: AGM from 6:30 pm to 8 pm

Show sitting at 8 pm, show at 8:30 pm

Location: 88 Albert Street, Ottawa (AGM in Banquet Room, Show in Yuk Yuk’s theatre in the next
room over)

Price: $10 show if you rsvp by May 10, $40 after May 10/ AGM portion & FOOD is free, BOOZE not
free.

Online register by May 10th: https://www.caslisottawa.on.ca/register.html or pay $30 more afterwards!
And that’s not funny.

AGM Agenda:

1) Fascinatingly, unfunny overview to the past year including a president’s report on how CASLIS-Ottawa
revolutionized the Ottawa IM community and is leading the country on IM convergence. No laughing allowed!
Whoever yawns the loudest, during John’s speech gets a special prize.

2) What you would do if you were dictator of CASLIS-Ottawa with unlimited power? A feedback session
on suggested events (with prizes - not based on the quality of your ideas, but on quantity which may improve
your odds of winning) and open floor on anything else, except unfunny criticism that hurts our feelings.

3) Quickie nominations from the floor or standing up, followed by elections for executive.

4) PREFERRED TERM Networking
USE FOR Smoozing, rubbing shoulders, networking, gossiping, sharing knowledge, chewing
the fat
BROADER TERM Socializing
RELATED TERMS Professional development, being nice, conspiracy, plotting, scheming, partying

5) And, let’s debate the issue, is the golden retriever a suitable spirit animal for librarians? Point
counterpoint! Let’s hope we will be adjourned beforehand, without having to ponder the link of golden
retrievers as symbols of our new golden age of information retrieval. We must remain serious

1. First post is a real story. Hence not Funny at all.

2. Second post is a  Yuk Yuk Comedy

(Tragedy :  I could not understand any thing).
