Form 15H

An individual person has an annual income much below income exemption limit, say around Rs.45000/- comprising mainly interest income from bank FD

Does he required to have a PAN card.

Is he eligible to file Form 15H to the bank to get exemption from TDS on his interest earnings.

Please advice

as per

The following section 206AA shall be inserted after section 206A by the Finance (No. 2) Act, 2009, w.e.f. 1-4-2010 :

Requirement to furnish Permanent Account Number.

206AA.

(2) No declaration under sub-section (1) or sub-section (1A) or sub-section (1C) of section 197A (for 15H &15 G)shall be valid unless the person furnishes his Permanent Account Number in such declaration.

as you are with the exemption limit therefor you need not have PAN card, but if you want
