Filing with itr 4

Notification 242 views 3 replies

Hi,

My husband works as a musician in a hotel, on a monthly salary, which is his only source of income.  He has been filing his returns for the past 5 years using ITR 4 and promptly received his refund of TDS.

This year he has received a notice under sec 139(9)d, saying it is a defective return and he has to file his P&L a/c and Balance sheet..! The appropriate column has been filled with N where it had asked whether he maintains the above.

His total income for the year is only Rs 3,00,000 and he is a Senior citizen . Where is the question of the above? All he wants is refund of the TDS deducted. .

Will it suffice to file a revised return ?

Please advise.

This year department has issued notices u/s. 139(9), in all such cases where the details required are not complied. The same were missed in earlier years, but this year all are required to fulfill the defects by submitting Balance sheet and Profit & loss account. You are requested to prepare the details and resubmit the completed ITR form again u/s. 139(9). You may take help of any local tax consultant/CA, if you need.

Thanks for your response.  Even to respond to the notice the relevant portion has not been uploaded on the e-filing site.  How can one reply ?
