Filing of Income Tax Return

I had been filing my income tax return from past 2-3 Assessment Years. But for A.Y. 2007-08 i don't have any income. do i need to file Income tax return for this yr. also?

No, Achint an individual is not required to file his return for the AY in which he does not have any taxable income which is more than minimum thereshold limit..i.e.Rs.1,00,000..for u.

Thanks for the early reply... but one more confusion. Supoose in the next A.Y. i file a return . Can department ask me to file return for the last A.Y. also???

No it wont ask,, but when u apply for a Visa the last 3 year returns is mandatorily demanded by some countries,, then it may lead to a problem ( if u intend to apply for a VISA

If in the earlier years , the person was earned salary income , the employer deducted TDS & but not filed the return because lack of knowledge & join the new co. now realise to file the return for earlier years but at this he don't have Form 16, wht will be the solution? if want to start filing return.

If your income is not exceeding the taxable limit, there is no statutory obligation on you to file the IT return. It is your option in such a case.

no there are no need to file the retuirn if yout taxable income before ded. 80c is less then 100000

Mr Achint, you don't have any income ?? atleast bank interest is there... so better to file your IT return for A Y 2007-08 (F Y 2006-07).To do this u get benifit... {1} for visa u need last three years IT return {2} your continuning remains the same. {3} for nest A Y 2008-07 non of the IT department ask u why u are not filing I T Returns for A Y 2007-08 Concluding : Pl don't break the continuity.
