Filing ITR when Form-16 not available from financial institution

ITR 248 views 4 replies

I am helping my dad file his returns (ITR-1). He has interest income from fixed deposits in a local cooperative society and post office. There is no TDS from these sources - and so there is no 26AS available. My questions are:

1) I think I should declare the interest income in "Income from other sources" section of the ITR. Is this correct?

2)  If so, should I fill out TDS2 section of ITR? There is no Form-16 from the society or the post office (TAN number of these two financial institutions is not known either). My guess is no need to fill out TDS2.

3) Since there is no form-16/TDS, how can I declare where the interest income came from. Can I just list this under "Income from other sources" without providing details of where this interst income came from.

Thank you...

If there is no TDs in 26as and no TDs is done by the institution you can declare income from other sources and no need to fill TDS 2.

File ITR 1 no need to fill particulars relating to TDS

Thank you for confirming

Thanks for the help
