ITR 1051 views 7 replies

  Hi,

I am a new member on this forum. I failed to produce my HRA and investments details(80c) on time and hence had to pay the taxes as they were not reflected in form16. Now i want to to file the returns and claim my returns,  please help me in this regard as this is the first time i am filing for returns. I have the rental agreement, the rent recipts and the investments i have made under 80c.

Thanks in advance

If you failed to submit the proofs to company then you can claim the same from IT dept directly by submitting rental agreement, the rent recipts and the investments details before due date for filing of return.

Mr. Prakash is absolutely correct, you can claim as refund when filing your ITR, but you have to filed ur ITR with all documents like rent receipts with rent agreement or possession proof and all investment proof which is mentioned in U/s 80C.

Please Note :- Last date of submission the ITR is July 31, 2009, so be on time.

u can claim HRA and 80C deduction in ur return even if these r not reflected in Form 16. Moreover, u need not to submit any of these documents with the Return since now-a-days IT dept doesn't accept any documents alongwith Return. But u must keep these proofs with u as these may be required at the time of assessment.

Thank you all! Could u also clarify if i need to suppliment any other document/form with my ITR form?

U need not have to enclose any form or proofs along with the ITR. My suggestion to u is  to take help of any CA or other professional to prepare ur return.

In my opinion, u will be getting refund after claiming the tax benefits incentives.

U can even forward ur form 16 and other details to my mail ID (ca.shaileshk @ gmail.com) as well, if u so desire.

If u r well aware of preparing return, go ahead and prepare it, i can clarify ur doubts wherever u come across.

Thank u all!  I filed my returns on time by  paying a nominal fees to one of the third party vendors. Can anyone tell me how long it may get for the refund? The person who filled up my ITR form told it may take about 3-6 months. Some of my other friends told me it may even take an year to get the refunds. Also let me know if we need to follow up with any authorities on it?

refund of tax may take 3 to 6 months or even one yr, so don't worry. U hve to made regular  follow ups with concerned tax authorities or vendor through which u filed ur return.
