Quick Summary
This discussion explores the income tax implications of moving funds from Fixed Deposits (FDs) to the stock market. The user is seeking clarification on potential tax liabilities, particularly concerning interest earned on FDs exceeding £40,000, and how stock market investments, especially those above £10 lakh, are reported to the Income Tax department via SFT transactions in Form 26AS. They are also concerned about needing to explain their source of income for substantial stock market investments.

The interest received on FD in excess of 40000 rupees is taxable as other sources

Thanks Sir....

I have 25L in stock market and planning to put another 25L.

Will the stock market investment will be visible in 26AS form as SFT  transactions?

and for that shall i have to explain my source of income while filing ITR.?

OR i can invest as much as in stock market without worrying about IT implications ?
