While filing the excise return online, no acknowledgement was received but a hard copy of the return was sent to the department. The department is claiming now that the return has not been filed. What recourse can the company take now.
Also can the company now go and change the original return uploaded .

@ Murali sir, Have you submited the hard copy of the filed return that we can download online? If no, please check the print acknowledgment section in the RET section . Also check, the filed return status, chance are there the return might have been rejected with some marked reason.
Online modification of return from our end is not possible. You will have to approach your range people only.
