we have Purchase Clay Bricks from Jabalpur and the Supplier Charged 2.06 % (Including Cess) Excise Duty , is Rate of Excise Duty is Right

I Have Checked........

it is 12% but supplier Charged only 2 %

enquire the supplier abt it..if there is any mistake the invoice needs to be rectified by the supplier

Is 2 % Excise Duty is payble on any product

There are currently around 130 items on which 2% excise duty is charged

It is also possible possible that exemption notification under section 5A of central excise act have been issued.Thus making rate of duty of 12% to 2% effective ROD

It is chargeable to 2.06% in terms of Notification No.01/2011-CE dated 01.03.2011 as amended. The receiver of the goods is also not entitiled to take cenvat credit of the same as these goods are said to be exempted goods in terms of CENVAT CREDIT RULES,2004
