Enquiry letter u/s 148A(a) of the income tax act

one person received this letter from the ITO for information regarding the FY 2016 -17 relevant AY 17-18. this letter mention that such person deposit cash during this period but he was not deposit cash during this period. he is agriculture and no other income. he take the loan as limit from the bank but during the said FY no high amount of cash deposit by said person. Another fact is no income tax return was filed for said FY.
how is give reply of this letter.

Please go and meet a nearest ca. notice needs to be seen and then replied
Dept is always correct. if anything wrong, it would be on behalf of the bank. First to check with the bank, need to verify PAN. Second, if cash deposited, need to collect supportings like sale bills of agricultural produces to show exempted income. If taken as a loan from others, produce affidavit for the same.
The problem is no one maintained a file properly. i best they can't even find bank statements of 16 17
Check if the details belongs to you by approaching the bank. If not, take letter from bank tax team. If assessment proceeds, ask officer to issue 133(6).
