After downloading the prefilled data from e-filing site, you can process the same with the help of utility provided by the site itself. It is available under 'Download' Tab....

There is no need to edit the old json file.

just make changes from cleartax portal and generate fresh json file and upload the same

Fresh json file works when submitting a fresh return and if the old return is not yet submittted

If you have submitted old return, section of filing changes from 139(1) to 139(5). Then the fresh json from cleartax won't work

Hello Sir,

Do you mean we have a way to edit the JSON in clear tax itself?

I am sorry but I could not find a 'Download' tab, could you please let me know how to do it?

I am having the same issue.

Thanks

There is an option to choose revised return under section 139(5) when you choose offline mode. You mean you cannot upload fresh .json after choosing section 139(5) under offline mode? I have to also file revised return now and i had also filed original return from cleartax .json file.

Try this option, if you have filed from cleartax https://cleartax.in/s/revise-income-tax-return

But I am facing the same problem as I filed the original from income tax website and tried from cleartax that didn't work.

And I am struggling to just to add the 80CCD(1B) and 80TTA fields that I had missed.

Note the Download section shows before logging in and not after logging in. Download section visible in https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal

Were you able to? I suspect there is some flag in the json that says if it is a 139(1) or 139(5). Could you figure that out?

Was anyone able to find any solution to this, i have to file revised return but the revised Json is not being accepted under section 139(5)
