Dear there is no time limit but see .. if you are deal with any type of goods that time you have to make e invoice before transportation and if you are dealing with any service .. you can generate once in month before gstr filing
Can we generate one time in a day in case of goods

so there is no need to generate e-way bill
E invoice is different e way bill is different if your invoice value is applicable to e way bill than you can make the same
E-Invoice under gst is to be generated before you give the hard copy or soft copy to customer or before you generate E-Way Bill whichever is earlier
