11 May 2017What is the due date of efilling of IT return for the financial year 2016-17. Whatever I knew that it will be within 31st July'2017, if it not within that date then Rs.5000.00 penalty if filled before December and if after December but before March of next year the amount of penalty will be 10000.00. If it as like then the ward"Year Ending" has no importance at all. Am I right?

For FY 2016-17 due date is 31/07/2017 ( non-tax audit case). After 31/07/2017 you can file return i.e. belated return till 31/03/2018.
What you have said is for Fy 17-18.
