I am a marine engineer. In this financial year i am working for a U S based company. The company deducts tax on my salary and pays it to the U S goverment. Looks like i will be having a "RESIDENT" status in this financial year. Am i subject to taxation in india??

As my opinion if the income generated in india then only u r liable to pay tax in india

Dear Mr. Nitin,

As you have said your residential status shall as of Resident, I understand you are Ordinery Resident.

On above understanding you salary income earned at US shall be taxable in India. However you can claim Indo-US DTAA benefit upto amount lower of tax payable in India on such Income or Tax already deducted/paid at US u/s. 90.

Thanks
