Do i have to pay gst if no sale is made

i took GST number in Jan 2019 planing to start some side business. But for some reason i did not started my business and no sale was made. i am getting message to pay gst or i will be penalized.

Please let me know that do i have to pay and kind of few after getting GST number is no same was made?

You don't have to pay GST is you have not made any supply in the month but if you have not filed return on due date then you have to pay Rs.50 per day maximum Rs.10000

If you have not commenced your business and not made any supply of goods or services, then you are not required to pay any type of GST.

But since you have taken GST Registration, you have to file all your GST Returns timely even if no supply is made i.e. NIL RETURN.

Filing GST Return under GST Regime is mandatory.

Hence you have to file all your pending Returns/Statements with applicable late fees.

LATE FEES :

For NIL RETURN :- Rs. 20 per day till the default continues subjected to a maximum of Rs. 10,000.

For Retuy with Tax Liability :- Rs.50 per day till the default continues subjected to a maximum of Rs.10,000/-

Every person who is registered under GST having a valid GSTIN must file all the GST Returns applicable to his business. File GST Returns even if there are no transactions in the business. If there are no sales or purchases, the taxpayer must file a NIL return. you can do GST Search to find any firm GST details.
