Hello everyone,

Can anyone please tell me that if the dividend for the year ending 31st March 2008 is received in November 2008. What will be its treatment and whether it will be shown in the return filed for A.Y. 2008-09 or in the return for A.Y. 2009-10?

EXEMPT U/S 10(34)  if from indian COMPANY.

else taxable...

Dividend income is taxable on receipt i belive.

it will be exmept from tax if it is received from an indian company.

 

otherwise it is always taxable  in the p/y  it is received

 

THE INCOME SHOULD BE SHOWN IN FY 2007-08,

Where seventy five per cent of the share capital of any company is throughout the previous year beneficially held by an institution or fund established in India for a charitable purpose the income form dividend whereof is Exempt under section 11.
