All the tax  is paid properly in the  year in which assesse died, how ever no intimation is given that this is last return of assesse, what is the consiquences?

if it is a default what is remedy.

Write to the AO a letter requesting to close the file of the assessee, and attach the death certificate duly attested by a notary with the letter.

upto the time, the return is due or getting filed by legal heir, there is no need to intimate, but when u wish to close the file, intimate the AO

you dont have to do anything... so forget it.. no need to intimate anyone....
