Director right to obtain copy of minute of bm

We know that the directors have a right to inspect the minutes of Board meetings. But, can they obtain copies of the minutes of board meeting? Can directors ask for a copy of the minutes of the last 3 or 4 board meetings?

Yes the directors can ask for the copy of the minutes.

Thanks for the reply. It would really help me if you can quote from relevant section of the Companies Act or otherwise from Ramaiya, which can prove the above.

Please refer point no. 8.7 of Secretarial Standards on Meetings of Board of Directors to clarify your doubt!!!

Actually obtaining copies of minutes do not arise in the practical sense. It is a practice to enclose the minutes of previous board meeting in the board folder sent to directors for the ensuing meeting.

Regards,

That is exactly my question. I agree that it is a practice that directors are given a copy of previous board meeting at a ensuing board meeting. It is also a practice that minutes of a BM are sent to directors for their approval before they are signed and finalised.

What I wanted to know is that if a Director comes and ask for a copy of the minutes of  various board meetings held previously, can he do so?
