If it is your tax audit then it is mandatory to opt for DSC otherwise it is not mandatory for individuals & HUF.
DSC is mandatory for filing of returns of individuals who are required to get their accounts audited u/s 44AB.
[Accounts are required to be audited under the income tax law, if turnover or gross receipts from business exceeds Rs.1 crore from assessment year 2013-14 onwards or if turnover or gross receipts from profession exceeds Rs.25 lakh from assessment year 2013-14 onwards ]
Individuals and HUFs whose income is to be audited must mandatorily use digital signature while filing returns online.

Digital signature is mendatory when books if accounts r required to get audited u/s 44ab. If not required then file the return without DS and send a copy if the return to bangalore cpc.
No,DSC not mandatory for Filing retuns in case of Individuals whose are not falling Tax Audit case.
I think you are confused with 10Lakhs income ..
Individuals whose income is more than 10 lakhs are mandatory to file return online :)
