I e code - excise - vat - exemption

Dear Expert,

I am from Chennai and about to start a export business (Merchant Exporter) shortly.  In this connection I have some queries regarding Excise & VAT.

1. Should I register under Central Excise in order to get exemption since my products are manufacturing items.

2. Should I register under TN VAT in order to get VAT exemption.

3. Else is there is any other way to get exemption from Excise & VAT if not under registered.

If so, please give me procedures to do so.

Best Regards,

Abu Umar - Chennai

Dear Abu Umar,

if you have to start bussiness as merchant exporter, you have to get following certificates :-

1) IEC from DGFT;

2) RCMC from Export Promotion Council;

3) Bond B-1 to executed with the Maritime commissioner / jurisdictional excise commissioner if empowered, to get excise duty exemption. on the Basis of Bond B-1, Form CT-1 wil be issued for procurement of indigenous material for export;

4) Sales tax registration under VAT and CST Act to avail sales tax exemption

Bond B-1 is not required in case of manufacturer exporters. UT-1 is to be given to excise dept..

Thanks

Ramesh
