Hi, can anyone tell me,  whether passing ICWA can get me a good job? How are they rated in India as professionals?

One more thing, my CA and CWA exams are due in Nov and Dec 08 respectively, Should I go for both or one at time?

Please I need your help very strongly !

Thanks to all of you in advance.

yah... absolutely. I accept that in the past it's not considered as valuable but today it's demand and will grow more and more in future as all MNCs are now coming to india and Accounting environment is becoming complex which will surely increase the demand of CS and CWAs in compare to CAs.

hai, i think the present syllabus and the cirriculam of the icwa is good and correlated with the ca syllabus. In my opinion the cost accountant profession also gaining its importance day by day

Thanks Harbinder.

Thanks C.Rajesh.

It is needless to persu icwai because CA is one of the premier accounting certification in india and abroad.Ministry should study the utility about the existence of icwai in the present economic scenario.

read recent employment survey conducted by THE WEEK magazine. in current survey Cost Accountants are far ahead than CA. so go for ICWA . some people are creating confusion

Thanks Nilajan, but would say that even after cwa has revised it's syllabus?

Thanks Kanu Sanyal, for sharing that useful piece of information.

Hi Gurdi

At least in Whole africa, as i had been there for seven years

CA's and ICWA are considered equivalent  for the purpose of  work permit

so they do recognise the ICWA equivalent to CA's even my boss was Pracising ICWA there as management consultant.

thanks narinder

Thanks Narinder, your reply was very encouraging to me. What's better than to hear it from the horses's mouth. Thanks once again.

management accountants role in modern business environment is much more diversified than chartered accountants. these two professions differ in nature and purview and after the introduction of new syllabus ,the cwa course is becoming much popular. cwa still are rare species as pass % is just 7-8 % comparable to CAs who are managing to score 30-40% in pass rates.

and i strongly feel against those who are pointing finger towards management accounting profession just because they compleately misses understanding the nuances of the profession. than why we need llb(business, taxation) when the same can be done by company secretaries if they are allowed to practice in court

plz, help me i m totally confused which course is better cs or icwa i want to go with cwa but somebody told me that cs having more scope then cwa which course should i go with 9999823113

Hi Nilanjan Chowdhury

There is separate body for Cost and Management Accounting not just in India, but across the world. Can we take all of them as fools?

There is increasingly feeling about the need of CMA, and CMA is increasingly getting better recognition as distinct field to CA. In 2008, ICWAI has revised the syllabus to align its scope with that of global scenario. Are all these developments are ineconomical? I do not think so. It is well aligned with the Economic Theory of Specialisation proposed by Adam Smith.

CA alone can not replace Lawyers, Company secretaries, Fund Managers, Tresury Managers, etc.  There is strong need of CMA is felt, so as it is developed as separate branch.

If you see recent development, CA are barred from non-audit work. Because their core competencies lies in Auding.

So, ICWAI is come out of strong need felt in 1944 and separte body was set up.

(more info at https://www.icwai.org/icwai/institute-history.asp)

To give more illustration,

earlier there was one branch under Electrical Engineering. Both Signal Management and Energy Management studied under one branch. Later it is felt that they are different entities and thus Electronics Engineering (for signal management) is born as distinct branch to Electrical Engineering (for energy management). Later so many branches croped up.

Please pour in more thoughts in this discussion.
