I received the above notice showing error code 181 but I had filled gross receipts correctly under col 53(ii)a of Part A Profit and loss account and my profit shown u/s 44ADA was also more than 50%. I really do not understand why return is treated defective with error code 181. Can members please advise what should I do to correct the defect? Do I have to mention these figures in some other columns also?

No question of showing the figure anywhere else, but check business code and eligibility of section 44ADA to the code.
Secondly option selected in 'GENERAL' for books of accounts and audit applicability raw.
Download latest utility from e-filing site and refill the data........ and validate !!! That may suggest any defect.
If everything in order, you may disagree with the defect.........
